Ireland is famously known for its unique and bold pubs. There are many Irish interior designers who transform Ireland’s bars into beautiful and creative spaces where you can have a drink with friends and enjoy the charming environment. Here are 4 designers from Ireland and their best projects that you need to know about if you ever visit this wonderful island.
O’ Donnell O’Neill is a dynamic Interior Architecture and Design Studio formed by Graham O’ Donnell and Ann-Marie O’Neill with studios in Dublin and Belfast, who specialize in experiential and atmospheric interior design solutions for the hospitality industry. Their designs have not only been hugely popular and commercially successful but also have been critically influential in benchmarking the highest standards of design for the social scene.
This Irish designers power duo push the boundaries of design and creativity every day and strive to create innovative concepts. Two of their most famous designs are House Belfast’s Main Bar and the River Club Bar.
L’Estrange Designs was founded in 2015 by Jill L’Estrange following her return to Ireland after years living abroad, working in architecture and property development. The company was born from a vision to bring exciting and eye-catching spaces to Ireland, giving a creative twist to the Dublin bar scene. They handle a range of projects, from hotels, restaurants, and bars, to leisure spaces, offices, and small business, but each project has its own unique personality.
The Ruin Bar and The Tolka House are two amazing bars designed by L’Estrange. The first was inspired by Budapest’s famous Ruin pubs with bespoke pieces from salvage materials and integrating the works of local graffiti artists. The second project is situated next to Dublin’s Botanic Gardens and therefore the main inspiration was plant life, with rich teal tones, and a scheme of luxe leathers and velvets, L’Estrange injected life into this venue.
Paul Haffey Design Ltd is a commercial interior design practice born in 2003, who creates bespoke interior designs for the hospitality sector in Dublin, Limerick, Cork, Belfast and many other locations in Ireland and America. The company believes every job should meet the individual needs and aspirations of each client.
Focusing their energies on the currently booming hospitality sector, Paul Haffey’s interior business is responsible for several popular bars, cafés and restaurants across Ireland – such as J.J. Coppinger’s, where both modern and classic design join forces to keep the building’s rich past alive, creating an exquisite atmosphere. The Amber Lounge at Fota Island Resort is another successful design by Paul Haffey with a dynamic yet timeless ambience given by the exquisite recessed ceiling features and the brass structure above the bar.

In June 2008 Audrey Gaffney took the leap to launch her own design studio and she has developed her own unique style for exquisite, luxurious and unique interiors. Passionate about design, she and her team have developed and created original interiors, evolving each design around the brand, and ensuring that customer experience is always at the forefront.
One of the many wonderful projects in Gaffney’s wide portfolio is the elegant and classy Skylon Bar & Grill, with contemporary furniture and decor, deep buttoned seating, painted square paneling and a lot of brush brass fittings and detailing. The Seven Bar is another stunning interior designed by Gaffney Associates, featuring a classical mahogany wood oval shaped island bar and a comfortable and spacious lounge area of the Heritage Hotel, offering fantastic views over the beautiful grounds and the Slieve Bloom Mountains.
